We are now at one week away from the submission deadline!!

Art and Fics Due - August 26th, 11:59 PM (Midnight) PST (here is a timezone converter.)

Just a reminder as well that we've got a Block Writing Event going on tonight in the Help comm, as well as our last Sunday Snippets coming up on the 23rd. We'll also try to get some sort of Cheerleading post up for the last push to the finish line. STAY STRONG GUYS, WE'RE ALMOST THERE AND YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!

Totally prepared to write more than humanly possible this weekend :P Anybody else in that boat?

TOTALLY in that boat. Except I have a BBQ all day on Saturday >_<. Also, am having a horrible time finding a beta.

Tonight...tomorrow night...Friday... Yeah, I'm in the same boat.

Mine is luckily done writing buuuut it's sort of mess so I'm editing. Scratch that, I am PANIC editing. XD So ya, I'll be doing that all weekend.

I keep telling myself to breathe because it's complete, but I know the last quarter is literal trash (I KNOW IT) so I need to fix it!!

Oh nos! For betas, have you tried contacting the people who signed up in the beta section here? Also, you could try The Beta Branch forum - the ladies there are super awesome and we need more people there, but then again I don't know who'd be able to help with such a crunch time-wise right now (do check them out for next year tho!!).

We can try posting on the HBB tumblr and advertising for emergency betas, you can try posting in the help comm for some help?

There's also this site called Hemingway (http://www.hemingwayapp.com/) I just recently discovered thanks to tumblr - I haven't used it yet, but I'm going to this weekend to help me self-edit the last chunk of my fic. Maybe try that too!!

HOMG. I've JUST finished moving house, I'm looking for another job, and there are family emergencies ALL OVER THE PLACE. BUT! I only have two chapters to go. *wrings hands* I'm closeting myself away in the library tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to finish this beast. *eyes stupidly high word count*

Part of the problem is that we want a beta who knows the fandom we're writing for so that they can tell us if we're in character. But honestly, I'm more worried about being able to finish on time. We're only half done with the writing, although we have the whole thing mapped out.

I'm so sorry - I'm going to have to drop out. My RSI has flared up quite badly and while I've been hoping that if I just rest and take the tablets, it would settle down so I'd be able to make progress, I've just been fooling myself.

I've let my artist know, but I'm so sorry for letting everyone down.

Whenever your thing gets finished, it'll be worth reading. I always enjoy your stories, regardless of fandom.

Ah, I hear you on that. The beta I started this adventure with had to drop out from editing. The second one has been a brilliant editor but doesn't know the fandom, so she hasn't been able to comment on characterization. I hope I did okay??? Maybe I can find someone who knows Supernatural to speed read it... but it's a novel, so maybe not. XD

We're stuck on trying to figure out an emotional upheaval! Everything can't be all rainbows and sunshine! We need a reason for Myka to be mad at Pete, but she just ignores all the stupid stuff he says and they normally bicker like an old married couple, so it's HARD.

Hmm... Can he/does he do something particularly nefarious or offensive to her? Like, I don't know the fandom, but maybe try thinking about her core values, what someone (anyone, not just him) could do to create anger and hurt for her. Once you come up with that, then maybe you can work with how he could cause them or be part of it?

The problem is that, before they got into a relationship, they'd been working partners for 5 years and know about all of each other's quirks and things in their past that made them who they are. They've been in life and death situations and have complete trust in the other person. So everything we've been able to come up with, has been shot down by "oh, they handled that in ep X" or "That's OOC."

And it wouldn't matter so much if we didn't have this one scene, later on, that needs more emotional impact. And the build up won't be there, if there isn't any upheaval.

I'm so sorry to do this, particularly at this late stage, but I'm going to have to drop out of the challenge due to flare-ups from my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I've just dropped the mods an email but I wanted to mention it here, too just in case it doesn't come through.

Can it be something wearing them down then? Ie. their view on a particular sensitive issue just can't be understood by the other person and they've tried or ignored it until now?

Or what do they disagree on ever, in general? Likes, dislikes, political/religious views, fundamental values, etc? Is there anything there you can build off of?

What about the Later upheaval you mentioned? Is it that something you can break apart in some way, do a little now and the rest later? Lay in pieces that come to a head in the Later?

Does something happen to one (or both of them) that would change them in some way, so that their reaction might not be OOC? (ie. character death, trauma, something).

I don't know the entire fandom, but I watched the first five seasons of SPN.

I think I've found a way to work it. I've written way more than I need, so I can break at a specific point and have it be a complete story within itself, but with a few loose ends dangling, and those will get taken care of in the next story, which depending on where I break the first time, I'll have already written nearly half of.

And hope to gods the readers don't want to lynch me for splitting it where I'm thinking about.

And edit the crap out of the part I've already gotten written.

That should definitely be enough knowledge - I mostly have characters from the first five seasons (Bela, Bobby, Cas, Jo, Azazel, Lucifer, etc) as well as some cameos from later seasons so it's not a big deal to know them well.

The story is a Star Wars AU - the SPN people in the SW 'verse. I'm doing polishing editing right now, all the technical stuff, but ya, if you're up for it and have time to skim it for characterization, that would be brilliant (altho seriously it's a novel and we're now less than a week away so seriously no worries if you can't, haha!!)

Like, I think I'm good? But just in case. I have a lot of anxiety before posting these Bangs. XD

Ahahah, Team Seeker. Though, I'd moved to Team Confessor for the last battle. I shouldn't have jumped ship! I got my 100% participation, though a seeker beat me out for top point earner. I was #2.

Okay, a panic last-minute question since I still need to write 5,000 words by tomorrow ~~omgggggg~~ because work was a killer and I got behind .... for the deadline, do we need to have it completely posted by then or if I'm missing the last couple chapters, can I post those at, say, 1am? (since normally I would post it to the collection with the first chapter and then keep adding). If it all needs to be there, that's cool. I'm just trying to stop panicking and make a plan!

We definitely prefer you have the whole thing up before the deadline, however, getting your last few chapters up a few hours later is totally not a big deal. So yes, that's fine! :)
