Long past due post!

Hi all.

Many apologies for being so MIA. Unfortunately, the news I have is sad. I haven't been able to get in touch with my co-mod for quite a while. I'm a bit worried about her, so if anyone can reassure me she's okay, I'd appreciate it.

With that said, I really do not have the resources, time, or knowledge to run this bang any longer. Because of that unless someone wants to take over the reins (which I'd love), this is the end of Het Big Bang. If anyone is interested, please message me. I'm happy to remain available for anything you might need or have questions on if so.

I do want to thank everyone who has been involved with this Bang, past and present. I've loved this beautiful challenge and its celebration of het couples and am so happy with many of the things I've been able to write and art I've received and the beautiful fic I've read from y'all. Keep it all up!

I just wanted to say thank you for your patience as we wound down from the last round. We so enjoyed being able to do that for you.

With that being said, we're going to have to skip this next round. I hope we'll be back up and running for next time, but RL is just not giving us another option right now.

We will miss you and will definitely keep you updated on anything else.

Amnesty Period Open!

Hello everyone! The official posting period is now over and the Amnesty Period has begun! If you have missed your scheduled posting date, or already requested to post during Amnesty, now is the time to post! You are allowed to post on any day, from now until December 3rd.

We will be extending the Amnesty Period through December 3rd, to give a full 2 weeks of Amnesty!

If, for any reason, you cannot post, or cannot finish posting, during the Amnesty Period, please reach out to us ASAP, so we can discuss next steps. If you are an author (both 5k Little Bang and 10k Big Bang) that was paired through the claiming process, we're past the no consequences point and dropping out could result in a ban. However, if something major in your life happens (sickness, injury, accident, etc.) please just let us know and there will be no consequences for dropping out. Anyone that doesn't contact us will be banned, as we won't know about a situation unless we're told.

If you are a Solo Author, there are no consequences for dropping out.

If you are an author that has chosen to do chaptered posting, and you do not have your entire work posted by December 3rd, there can be consequences for not finishing, if you were paired with a fanworker. The idea of a Bang is to have a completed work posted!

If you are a Solo Author that chose to do chaptered posting and you do not have your entire work posted by December 3rd, we will remove your work from the HetBang Ao3 Collection, but there will be no other consequences for not finishing.

Weekly Round Up 5 will be posted later tonight, or tomorrow. Weekly Round Ups may be posted on Mondays, rather than Sundays, due to some availability changes from the mods.

Posting Open & Final Check-In Closed!

Hello everyone! The 5th and final check-in is now closed and posting has begun! We’re looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to!

Date Claims are also officially closed, however, if you need to change your date, for any reason, please send an email to us at thehetbigbang@gmail.com, with the new date you’d like to post on. Just make sure to check the 2022 Posting Schedule, to find an open date!

Posting will run from October 16th through November 19th. November 20th-30th will be the Amnesty Period, which is for any author or fanworker to post their work, if they missed their posting date! Here are the 2022 Posting Guidelines.

Weekly Round Up will begin Sunday, October 23rd, and will take place each Sunday, with a list of works that have been posted for that week!

Do not post your work to the DreamWidth or LiveJournal comms! Posts are moderated on the comms and your post will be rejected. This is because mods are only checking the HetBang Ao3 Collection for works. We want there to be one centralized place to find works for everyone to enjoy!

Note About Support Comms: Mods will no longer be posting the weekly support posts in het_banghelp, to focus on posting, but members are still welcomed to make their own posts, if they need some extra help and support!

Hello everyone! Today is the last day to fill out the Check-In Survey and the last day to claim a posting date! A big thank you to everyone that has already checked in and claimed their posting date!

You must fill out the survey, even if you or your group has already claimed a date! Filling out the survey helps mods to see where everyone is at and to make sure everyone is still here!

Updated Posting Information:
You do not need to wait for the “Posting Open” notice that will go out sometime tomorrow morning. Once it is October 16th for you, feel free to begin posting! Mods will approve works to the HetBang Ao3 Collection as quickly as possible.

Hello everyone, this is a reminder for the fifth check-in for HetBang 2022! A big thank you to those that have already checked in! This check-in is mandatory, for both authors and fanworkers! If you do not check-in, you will be considered dropped from HetBang 2022, and there could be consequences if you were paired with an author (both 5k Little Bang and 10k Big Bang) or fanworker through the claiming process! If you need to drop out, please let us know ASAP! The survey will be open through Saturday, October 15th, and will be closed Sunday morning, October 16th.

The most important thing when filling out the survey is to make sure you use the same email address that was used in your sign-up, so that we can check you off. If you do not remember which email you used to sign-up, a copy of the Google Survey should have been sent to you when you signed up. If you still cannot find it, please contact us and we will check on our end!

Hello everyone! Our 4th Check-In is now closed! If you missed it, an email will go out letting you know that you have been dropped from HetBang 2022. If you have been paired with an author (both 5k Little Bang and 10k Big Bang) or fanworker via claims, and you have not reached out to us to let us know you need to drop out due to something major happening (sickness, injury, accident, etc.), you will be banned for one round.

If you missed the check-in and still wish to participate, please contact mods ASAP, so that we can mark you as still participating! If you need to drop out and something major has happened (sickness, injury, accident, etc.) please just let us know and there will be no consequences for dropping out. Anyone that doesn't contact us will be banned, as we won't know about a situation unless we're told.

Mods will go over check-in information and make another post in a few days deciding how many stories can be posted per day, starting with at least 2 per day. This will not affect authors that choose to do chaptered posting. Posting instructions will go out at the end of September.

Support Comm Update

Hello everyone! Now that we’re getting closer to posting, we’ve updated the het_banghelp activity list. Our weekly posts will now include fanworkers and the editing process!

Updated Support Comm Activities

As a reminder, our next check-in will be September 1st, and it will be mandatory for both authors and fanworkers. After that will be our final check-in on October 1st, which will also be when date claims open! Posting will begin October 16th and run through November 19th. November 20th-30th will be the Amnesty Period, which is for any author or fanworker to post their work, if they missed their posting date!

After the September check-in is closed, mods will make a determination on the maximum number of stories that can be posted per day, starting with at least 2 per day. This is to help spread stories out!

Starting this year, chaptered posting is allowed. Authors can start posting their works on October 16th, and they have until their chosen posting date to have their work posted in its entirety. Posting before Sunday, October 16th is not allowed. Authors choosing to post chapters separately do not need to claim additional dates, just a final posting date when they intend to post their last chapter. Authors do not need to inform mods of their intended posting schedule, mods will only be checking for completed works based on the date claims.

Example:
Author A has 4 chapters to post and wants to update their fic twice a week. Author A will need to select a final posting date about 2 weeks after posting begins. Author A wants to post chapter updates Sundays and Wednesdays, and starts posting their story October 16th, followed by the 19th and 23rd. October 26th is the date they need to claim and is the date that mods will be checking their work for completion.

Hey everyone! All stories have been claimed!!! Claims and fanworker sign-ups are now closed and the final match-up emails will go out today. Please make sure to get in contact with your author or fanworker ASAP so everyone can start working together!

If you still have some writing left to do, consider starting or joining a writing sprint on the HetBang Discord Server. Fanworkers are encouraged to join in as well, to have some structured creating time with the group! We’ve also got our Weekly Activities on HetBang Help, if you want to take part in our weekly motivation activities! Mods will also be coming up with some activities for fanworkers, stay tuned!

Stories must be beta read, if you do not have a beta reader already, you can check out het_banghelp, which has a post set up for beta readers and authors seeking a beta. The HetBang Discord Server has a channel set up for finding a beta reader. There's also betaplease on DW, and for LJ, find_me_a_beta and beta_search.

September 1st will be our next check-in, which is mandatory, for both authors and fanworkers. Anyone that does not respond to this check-in will automatically be dropped from HetBang 2022. If you are a Solo Author or a Tandem Author/Fanworker, there are no consequences for dropping out. If you are an author or fanworker that has been paired up via claims, we're past the safe drop out point and dropping out can result in a ban from the next round of HetBang. However, if something major happens (sickness, injury, accident, etc.) please just let us know and there will be no consequences for dropping out. Anyone that doesn't contact us will be banned, as we can't know about a situation unless we're told.

Last Day for Story Claims!

Hello everyone! Today is the last day for story claims! We’ve got three 5k Little Bang stories that have not been claimed. While we cannot guarantee a match for the 5k Little Bang stories, we’d really like to have all stories claimed by tomorrow! Claiming will close no sooner than 10AM PDT, Sunday July 17th to give everyone ample time to claim!

Just as a reminder, 5k stories that are claimed are required to be completed by the end of the HetBang 2022, the last day of which is November 30th. If you are a 5k author that currently has an unclaimed summary and you’re worried about completing your work, email us and we can take your summary down, no problem!

And if you are a fanworker that would like to claim multiple of the remaining stories, just let us know how many of your choices you want.
Example:
First choice: #1 Title, Second choice: #2 Title, Third choice: #3 Title. Can take 2 stories.
This means we will give you 2 stories, out of whichever stories are remaining. Please reach out if you have any questions, we’re here to help!

Remember, the Dreamwidth post will not be unlocked! If you are wanting to make a claim through comments, you must visit the LiveJournal post! This is so we can keep things more organized and prevent confusion if stories are being claimed at the same time. Emailing us your claims is also an option, just send an email to thehetbigbang@gmail.com with your top three picks and we will let you know which story you are successful on!

If you're a fanworker that needs to drop out, for any reason, please let us know right away and we will get that taken care of for you! There are no consequences for dropping out before a story is claimed!

Also, just as a reminder, it can take a few hours for mods to respond, so claim verification might be slow. We will do our best to stay on top of things and let people know if they were successful or not!

Claims Update and 3rd Check-In Closed

Hello everyone, the 3rd Check-In is now (belatedly) closed! If you missed it, no worries, it wasn’t mandatory! Our next check-in will not be until September 1st, and it is mandatory. Missing the next check-in will result in you being dropped from HetBang 2022, which can lead to a 1-round ban, if you’ve been paired with a fanworker or author! Please reach out to the mods if you have any questions about this!

Story claiming is ongoing and additional claims are open! To check out what stories are left, visit the links below! We still have three 5k Little Bang stories that need to be claimed! If you are a fanworker that has already made a claim during the initial round, you are free to claim as many stories as you want. We just ask that fanworkers do not take on more than they are reasonably certain they can finish by the end of the HetBang 2022!
