[identity profile] irony-rocks.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] het_bigbang
Our last back-up artist graciously turned in their work a few hours ago and we've been working round the clock over the last few days, and we've managed to make our original deadline of posting up by noon PST on September 30th! *confetti* Please note: this website is apparently NOT compatible with Windows Internet Explorer. Please use another web browser, as Explorer causes major alignment errors with the text and layout.

Without further ado, I give you:
The Het Big Bang Website 2011!

The Stats: 58 writers finished for a total of 57 stories. We had 66 pieces of art submitted to this challenge, by 62 artists. A few notes: The website is hopefully easy to navigate, and you can sort reading selections alphabetically by title, author, fandom, pairing, and then there's the artist list. The welcome page includes links to these lists, as well as being accessible through the navigation bar at the side. Tabs at the side include stories (Title, by Author), and tabs that jet out with the accompanying artist work (Artist - name of Story). At the bottom are the artists who submitted their work on time, but whose authors never finished their story.

Please leave feedback for all! We've created [livejournal.com profile] hbb_feedback comm to provide feedback posts for each and every submission. They each link to the appropriate website entry. For writers and artists, I heartily recommend subscribing to Notifications every time there is a new comment on your feedback post by using the "track" icon/"Track New Comments" link on each entry up at the top. LJ's FAQs. It'll give you a notice every time someone leaves you feedback without obsessively checking the comm entry every three seconds for a new comment! :P

Audience members: You cannot imagine how much work all our authors and artists have put into this challenge, and it's devastating when people barely get any feedback on such LONG and BIG projects. Remember to leave some love! A little comment goes a long way!

Authors, don't forget to show your artists some love by dropping your thanks and feedback!

This website is very simple and modest, but I was going for a layout that wouldn't cause eyes to bleed so hopefully mission accomplished. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] derevko_child for creating the header! [livejournal.com profile] peanutbutterer and I have slaved away for the last few days to get this up, and quite frankly we limited coding to just us two because half the time we were figuring things out as we went along (my original website person flaked) and therefore having to direct others on coding would've been an exercise in confusion. We're almost positive that there are some errors we've overlooked. Feel free to point out any egregious coding errors and broken links by dropping an email to bigbang.het@gmail.com.

Feel free to crosspost. In fact, I really, really recommend it! I have this irrational fear that this website is going to crash or something, so back up your things and start crossposting!

Regarding AO3, I have started a Collection for Het Bigbang 2011 over at Archive of Our Own. A collection is a group of works collected together under one heading: here, for all Het Big Bang 2011 submissions. Only the author of the work can add his/her story into this collection; so, you gotta upload your fic onto AO3, and then add it into this collection. Here is the FAQ of AO3. Since this is a moderated collection, each work has to be approved by me before it appears in the collection. This is optional. However, I have not yet released that as I have yet to glance at AO3's direction because I've been too busy with the website. I'll get on that soonish, hopefully today.

As previously discussed, I'll begin posting the Random Stories of the Day beginning on Monday. Two stories a day, for roughly the next month.

A special heardy thanks goes out to all the back-up artists that volunteered their time and efforts to get things to us quickly. We appreciate your cooperation and contribution; otherwise we wouldn't be debuting on time as originally planned!

And last but definitely not least, I want to thank my co-mod, [livejournal.com profile] peanutbutterer, who ventured into this madness simply because she'd follow me into whatever insanity I threw myself in. BFF for life, yo. She has totally been the unsung hero of this challenge, choosing to remain in the shadows while I apparently got all the credit. Guys, she did all the feedback posts, coded out all the artwork, and did majority of the masterlists and website stuff. GIVE HER YOUR LOVE.

Hopefully, next year, we'll have a bigger and brighter and better Big Bang. This year was just the first year where we've worked out a lot of kinks and errors, so next year? Be prepared to sign up and OWN this challenge because it's a-coming!

Happy reading, ogling and remember to leave feedback!
