There are still a few Mystery Works that will be revealed on June 20th, Amnesty Day! There is still time to post this year if you haven’t finished yet, and we look forward to seeing the more works revealed on June 20th!

If you haven’t yet, think about updating your posting date on your work to June 1st, so that it appears on the front page of your fandom and doesn’t get buried!

Hello everyone! Today is the last day to post your works to the collection!

As of this post, all works that have been submitted to the collection, and are not in draft form, have been accepted. If you have posted, but your work is not yet in the collection, please double check that you have posted your work and it is not sitting in your drafts! We cannot approve works that are drafts.

If you are not quite ready to post, and you still want to continue, Amnesty Day is June 20th. Please contact us to let us know you’d like to post on Amnesty Day so we can mark things on our end.

Remember, if you’re paired with an author or a fanworker, there can be consequences for not posting by June 20th. Please contact us if you’re having trouble or if something major has come up, we know things are stressful world-wide right now and we’re very willing to work with people that contact us! If you’re working solo, there are no consequences for dropping out at this point or on June 20th. Please do try to let us know, but we understand, things are very hectic right now.

Works are not due just yet, we just wanted to get the posting guidelines up a little early so that everyone can check them out and ask questions if they need to!

The Ao3 Collection will open on May 10th and works will be accepted through May 27th. There will be an announcement once the Ao3 Collection is open. Anyone that has not posted by May 25th, and has not already contacted us to let us know what their status is, will be emailed, just so mods can stay on top of any issues.

Hello everyone! Thank you to everyone that has checked in so far or let us know they need to drop out, we really appreciate it! If you have not checked in yet, please do so ASAP! If you need to drop out, please do let us know so that we can mark things down on our end, it’s a big help!

The form will remain open until April 10th. (It will be closed early Saturday morning, to give everyone the full day to check-in.) Anyone that does not check-in by April 10th will be dropped from HetBang 2019-2020. An email will go out letting participants know that they have been dropped.

If you do not check-in, you will be considered dropped from HetBang 2019-2020, and there could be consequences if you were paired with an author or fanworker through the claiming process! If you need to drop out, please let us know ASAP!

Hello everyone! Second claims and fanworker sign-ups are now closed! Everyone has a second fanworker and the final match-up emails will go out today. Please make sure to get in contact with your author or fanworker ASAP so everyone can start working together! We're almost there, everyone!

Since we are entering the homestretch, if you do not have a beta reader already, you can check out het_banghelp, which has a post set up for beta readers and authors seeking a beta. The HetBang Discord Server has a channel set up for finding a beta reader. There's also betaplease on DW, and for LJ, find_me_a_beta and beta_search.

If you still have some writing left to do, consider starting or joining a writing sprint on the HetBang Discord Server. We're going to be hosting a lot of sprints, and fanworkers are encouraged to join, to have some structured creating time with the group!

April 1st will be our next check-in, which is mandatory, for both authors and fanworkers. Anyone that does not respond to this check-in will automatically be dropped from HetBang 2019-2020. If you are an author that is not paired up with a fanworker, there are no consequences for dropping out. If you are an author or fanworker that has been paired up via claims, we're past the safe drop out point and dropping out can result in a ban from the next round of HetBang. However, if something major happens (sickness, injury, accident, etc.) please just let us know and there will be no consequences for dropping out. Anyone that doesn't contact us will be banned, as we can't know about a situation unless we're told.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, my work schedule has become unpredictable and very busy for the foreseeable future. Responses may be delayed and I do not have access to Discord most of the day. If your matter is urgent, emailing thehetbigbang@gmail.com will be the quickest way to get a hold of me as I check that account often during the day. Stay safe everyone and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have a question or concern, we can't help if we don't know there is an issue!

For second claims, fanworkers can claim as many stories as they want, however, please do not take on more than you are reasonably certain you can finish to avoid leaving any authors or stories hanging! Each story can be claimed one additional time for this round, with a total of 2 claims including the first round of claiming.

Remember, the DreamWidth post will not be unlocked! If you are wanting to make a claim through comments, you must visit the LiveJournal post! This is so we can keep things more organized and prevent confusion if stories are being claimed at the same time. Emailing us your claims is also an option, just send an email to thehetbigbang@gmail.com with ALL stories you want to claim and we will let you know which story you are successful on!

If you're a fanworker that needs to drop out right now and has not claimed a story, please let us know right away and we will get that taken care of for you! There are no consequences for dropping out before a story is claimed!

Today is the last day to submit rough drafts! Authors have until summaries are posted for preview on Friday morning, March 6th to turn in their rough drafts. Once summaries are live for preview, it will be too late to turn in a rough draft, so please get your rough draft and summary header in as soon as possible!

If you are not at 8k words or 16k words yet, but you are close to one of those numbers, email us or send us a Discord message to discuss if we can accept your summary! If you are not close to 8k/16k words, but want to continue with HetBang, you can opt out of receiving an accompanying fanwork (or arrange your own) and continue as a Solo Author.

If you are wanting to opt-out of working with a fanworker, or need to drop out, please let us know ASAP so we can mark things down on our end!

We are now accepting rough drafts and we will be accepting rough draft submissions through Thursday, March 5th. Please reach out to us ASAP if you have any questions or concerns! Please make sure to read the submission guidelines linked below to ensure that submissions are formatted correctly, or we will have to ask you to resubmit. There is also a link to help with the summary as well.

Only authors wishing to be paired with a fanworker through the submission and claiming process need to send in a rough draft. If you do not wish to be paired with a fanworker or have already found a fanworker on your own, you do not need to send in a rough draft.
