Date: 2019-10-02 03:09 am (UTC)Like there is a character that was in a show I love but in her one episode, she was 12. I aged her up and expanded her within that fandom world to write.
Or an original story?

Date: 2019-10-25 03:40 am (UTC)However, we understand that not all fanwork types listed in the FAQ will translate well based on fandom/pairings. A book-only canon would be very difficult to translate into a vid, though not impossible if the fic author has actors and actresses in mind that have ample footage available that could be used in lieu of canon footage. Likewise, original works are allowed for this Bang and again, while not impossible to create a vid, it would require more work than, say, a fic from a longer running show like Smallville, or Buffy/Angel that focuses on main characters for the pairing.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Date: 2019-10-26 01:34 pm (UTC)Ps I love all the other mediums and know they have their own difficulties - I'm strictly talking about work in terms of total time spent. I quizzed a few other vidders about this in case it was just that I'm personally slow, but some who also art and edit images agreed that timewise the requirements don't seem lined up at all. At two minutes of vid, the minimums just look so unbalanced that I can't really see any vidder feeling encouraged to contribute.

Date: 2019-10-28 03:41 pm (UTC)We do understand that there are different workloads involved with the different fanwork types. All fanworkers get the same 2.5-3 months (with the Amnesty date on May 16th) to work on their fanworks and need to judge for themselves if they can complete the project on time before taking it on.
We strongly urge fanworkers to not take on a project they aren't reasonably certain they can finish! For instance, I do draw fanart, however, I'm extremely slow and it can take me months to finish one drawing, versus my wife that can draw several pieces in a day. It's just not viable for me to take on a fanart piece, so I know not to offer to do it.
Every medium is going to have different challenges and each fanworker is going to have a different method and pace and we mods really try to stress that fanworkers not take on a project or projects they're not reasonably certain they can finish. (This goes for stories and authors too, that choose to paired with a fanworker! Please don't choose to be paired with a fanworker if you're not reasonably sure you can finish your story on time.)
Thank you for bringing this to our attention! We do want to be as encouraging as possible and we're happy to make changes in the best interest of participants and the community. =D Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything else!

Date: 2019-10-28 01:02 am (UTC)We actually do require you write a unique fic for this Bang. You can post it anywhere else afterwards, but it should not be part of another event.
Thank you!

Date: 2020-02-21 02:44 am (UTC)I have my own fanworker I work with, or I found a fanworker to work with, do I still have to go through claims?
First off, that’s great you’ve found a partner to work with! All you need to do is let us mods know that you’re already paired up and have your fanworker sign-up, if they haven’t already! You do not need to go through claims, story claiming is for authors that are still seeking a fanworker to work with.
They can do so here
The signups are still open since we moved everything back a month!
Let us know if you need anything else.
