Feedback Changes 2022

Hello everyone!

We thank you so much for all of the feedback we have received, it’s been extremely helpful! Here are some of the changes we’ve made, based on the feedback from the survey:

Word Count: We will be lowering the word count to 10k for the Big Bang, and 5k for the Little Bang! There is no upper word count limit for either the Big Bang or the Little Bang, write to your heart’s content! It will also be possible to switch from the 10k to the 5k and vice-versa after sign-ups have ended.

Author and Fanworker Sign-Ups: Sign-Ups will start on March 1st for everyone and Author Sign-Ups will end on April 1st. Fanworker Sign-Ups will continue to be open until Story Claiming ends in mid-July.

Posting: There will be posting date claims the first half of October. Posting will run mid-October through mid-November. Amnesty will run through the end of November and HetBang will close December 1st! We are also going to allow chaptered posting. This will work by allowing authors to start posting on October 16th, and they have until their chosen posting date to have their work posted in its entirety.

Support Communities: All participants will be allowed to join the support comms. This includes fanworkers, beta readers, and cheerleaders! The support comms have moderated access and we will be checking sign-ups with access requests to make sure that only current participants are joining. Beta readers and cheerleaders can leave a comment on the rules post to be granted access! Participants can also join both the DreamWidth and the LiveJournal support comms and post on both, if they wish!

Support Community Schedule: Structured writing activities hosted by the mods will start either near the end of Author Sign-Ups, or once Author Sign-Ups have closed; we’re still working out the schedule! Mods will be hosting Block Writing Days, Discussion Days, Snippet Days, and Weekly Word Count Check-Ins.

We encourage participants to start their own topics as well, and you’re free to do so as soon as you’ve been approved to join the support comms! Topics should be writing, art, or HetBang related, such as asking for writing/art tips (digital or traditional), or fun posts like asking what everyone’s favourite het pairing/fandom is! Cat pics are better shared on our HetBang Discord server. =)
