Just a reminder that we still have the

het_banghelp support group for authors, artists, beta readers, and cheerleaders to congregate and support each other as we work or way toward that ever-looming deadline. It's a members-only comm, f-locked to only those that have officially signed up as authors/artists and betas/cheerleaders, so you have to join it in order to participate. (We empty it out prior to each big bang.)

Last year we had special writing and enabling events, like Snippet Days and Block Writing events, and we'd like to continue in that tradition, but we need someone who can step up to the plate and take on that job. To quote

irony_rocks from last year's rules of the comm:

The permanent schedule will be up shortly, but first, what I need is one special individual to step up to the plate, being ABSOLUTELY DILIGENT about following the scheduled (when it is established), and post these suckers up as the summer goes along. It is critical that this person be good with posting regularly and on time. I would appreciate the assist!

Hello,

I have 2 questions. :o)

What should I do first: signing up as artist and then join the community OR join the community and then signing up as artist? I'm a bit unsure about it.

What posts should the person write? Anything examples somewhere? I'm interested but I want to check first before saying that I'm in. So any entry would be helpful here. :o) (I just joined the community.)

It's best if you sign up first, then join the community.

And here's a link to the community entry (http://het-banghelp.livejournal.com/278.html) that has more information on what is needed. You can also check out the individual entries posted last year to get a better picture. I don't think it's a lot of work, just put up post for people to give snippets to their HBB work in progress and another post for block writing.

Thanks for answering both questions. :o)

I just read the other entry and I think I can't do this. :o( Especially "Block Writing" (because my shifts at work always changes and I'm pretty sure that I would miss the time often) and "Snippets Day" (because I want to sign up as artist only). But I'm glad to see that other people already volunteered to do this. :o)

Well, I'm new to LJ, so if you could, er, tell me how to post the entries, I'm all set up! I mean, do I need to be marked as admin or given some sort of special permission to post entries in the group? Or do I just click 'Post to Community' and type in the entry?

Sorry for making obvious questions, but I don't want to cock it up. (:

Oh! Also: What should I do about the dates? Because Block Writing #1, for example, was held on a Wednesday which was May 29, but May 29 is a Friday this year! What do I go with? Date or day?

All members can post to the group, so you should be all set on that. And you can click on the Post to Community link or you can do it through the Post an Entry link on your own journal. If you do it through your journal, just remember to click on the 'To Community' link next to your journal ID name and choose Het_banghelp.

And we should probably just go with Wednesday and Sunday, and I will make a new schedule with the correct dates as soon as you let me know if you can start on the 27th. So this year, we'll have the Wednesday Block Writing #1 on May 27th and every other Wednesday henceforth, and then a post for snippets on every other Sunday starting anytime after that. Does that sound good to you?

Yeah, I can start on the 27th! Is there a particular hour at which I should post the entries? Also, I'm on UTC-03:00 but I can adjust to another timezone.

Great!! I'll get the schedule posted in a day or two . . . or three. :)

I suppose you can post the Wednesday events anytime during the day, as long as it's around 6:00 p.m. somewhere in the world. And the Sunday Snippets can be posted anytime during the day it's scheduled. You can check out the ones posted during the last big bang and maybe get an idea that way. Otherwise, let me know if you need more information!

Hey there!! It's been awhile, but I am finally getting around to the these events. Almost a whole month later - oops!!

Anyway, I just wanted to follow up with you to make sure you still want to help us out. I really hope so!! :)

Hey! Sorry, just got back from college. I'd rather you made my schedule since I don't have the time to sit down and plan it right now, haha. No worries! I finally got around to this my self.

I'll go ahead and get up a schedule today, and we can start today if you really want to, but it might be better if we start everything on Sunday so that we can give people enough notice. Still, either way will be fine.

I don't have a Skype account... yet. :) But I'll try to get one in the next few days - another thing to add to my to-do list!!

Haha, I have the BWW #1 all set up, but we can start with those next week and kickstart these events with the SS #1. No rush. People shouldn't feel like we blindsided them.

Oh, by the way: I was just fooling around with tomorrow's post to see how it would look like and when I previewed it, I noticed that under my userpic it says 'jar_o_mirth [het_banghelp]'. That '[het_banghelp]' didn't appear with the previous person who was in charge of BWW and SS and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

I think that has something to do with the way the comm was set up. Once you post it for real, it should look just like all the other posts on that comm.

You know, I'm not sure why the Preview option does that stuff...

Anyway, post away!! You can always go back in and edit it after you make the entry. Oh, and don't forget to use the appropriate tag when you do.
